Hey, it's Friday. Here are three AI tools worth a look for indie game dev, all added to the catalog this week and all free to start.
1. Forja3D (freemium)
forja3d.app: text- or image-to-3D game assets where you set the triangle budget, and it gives you LODs, PBR maps, auto-rigging, and export presets for Unity, Unreal, Godot, and Roblox. The free plan is 50 credits a month with no card, and a model costs 10, so about five models a month. One catch: free-plan assets are released under CC BY 4.0, so you need to credit Forja3D if you ship them.
2. SpriteCook (freemium)
spritecook.ai: prompt-to-pixel-art characters, props, tilesets, and animated sprite sheets that stay in one consistent style, which is usually the hard part with AI pixel art. Exports for Unity and Godot. You get free credits every 30 days, no card needed.
3. Astrocade (free)
astrocade.com: describe a game and it builds a playable browser version, or hook up your own AI coding agent through its MCP server. Good for testing whether an idea is fun before you spend a weekend on it. Games publish to Astrocade's own feed, so treat it as a sketchpad, not a place to ship your real project.
